Who We Are

Stu, AKA ThatMrShy - Lead Artist and cheese appreciator

Stu started painting waaaay back when, in 1991, at just 6 years of age. Though the majority of his life was spent as an avid Warhammer fan, the hobby didn’t even start turn professional for him until 2012, when he first started freelance work as a traditional painter.

By 2017, Stu had transitioned to miniature painting - his long-term hobby, turned side hustle. Then by 2019 and the outbreak of the pandemic, Shy’s full-time gig as a professional chef was unfortunately doomed by circumstance.

Never one to stay down for long, Stu created Tesseract Mini Studios originally as a solo effort, and has run the company ever since.

Outside of the studio, Stu enjoys cooking, karate, weight training and video games.

Jenny, AKA Jennybean - Saviour of tesseract and Cat Botherer

Stu’s partner Jenny, doesn’t work in the studio as a painter, but she does help out in a multitude of ways. From designated driver, to organiser and the best moral support in the midlands, there’s very few aspects of the business that Jenny doesn’t occasionally have a hand in.

Whilst not a miniature painter, Jen does have a wealth of fine art experience and as such has been known to touch brush to model from time to time, though she’s never caught the bug enough to make a habit of it.

When not keeping Stu in order, Jenny enjoys karate and fitness with Stu, as well puzzle games and board games.
